Restaurants around Alexandria will offer special menus for Alexandria Restaurant Week. Here's what Old Town eateries will serve up.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria Restaurant Week starts on Friday, and Old Town restaurants will again dominate the selections for diners.

The summer restaurant week from Aug. 18 to 27 features restaurant week dinner menus priced at $25, $35 or $45 per person. Over 70 restaurants will participate, including ones in Old Town, Del Ray, the West End and beyond.

Old Town Alexandria's restaurants will give diners plenty of cuisine choices, from Indian food, Thai food, steakhouses and French bistros to pubs and barbecue.

One Old Town favorite is Bastille, a French restaurant offering the choice of a $45 or $55-per-person menu. Some highlights on the $45 menu are the Amish chicken breast cutlet, hanger steak, and bistro steak and fruits. The $55 menu includes choices like seared king salmon filet, grilled lamb chops and kofta, and seared Atlantic sea scallops. Risotto D'ete is an entree option on both menus.

At Kismet Modern Indian, enjoy upscale Indian dining for $45 per person. Some highlights of the menu are starters like paneer pesto, chicken jodhpur, and tandoori shrimp. For the main course, enjoy favorites like butter chicken or chingri shrimp curry, the vegetarian pindi chickpeas, or nilgiri chicken. For dessert, enjoy warm carrot halwa or mango kulfi.

Along King Street, try the revamped Alexandria Bier Garden, formerly Village Brauhaus. The $35-per-person restaurant week menu starts with a choice of bier or wine, and appetizer options of potato pancakes, ABG Doner, house salad, or TNT shrimp. Entrée options are paprika chicken, chicken schnitzel, Reuben, Alexandria saltado or two wursts.

Another new offering is Elaine's, a Mediterranean restaurant offering a $45 prix fixe menu. Appetizer options include Greek salad, hummus, salty feta with tomatoes, baba ghanoush, and ful medames. Entrée options are grilled beef and lamb kofta skewers, grilled chicken shish tawook tzatziki, Egyptian squash and zucchini moussaka, and koshari. Finish off with dessert choices of flourless chocolate torte with strawberries or baklava.

At the newly revamped Jula's on the Potomac that was formerly Cafe 44, a two-course prix fixe meal will be served for $45. Starters include a cheese and charcuterie bar, shrimp ceviche, and stuffed pepper soup. Entree options are scallop pappardelle, braised short rib, Alaskan halibut, and French onion chicken. Finish off your meal with corn donuts, berries jubilee or affogato.
