Senior Alert Canceled As Missing Man In Alexandria Found

UPDATE: Aschenaki Tafere has been found.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A senior alert was issued by Virginia State Police for a missing man with a cognitive impairment in Alexandria.

Alexandria Police are searching for Aschenaki Tafere (nickname Abatesh), 82. He was last seen around 1:45 p.m. in the 300 block of Wythe Street leaving his residence walking toward Oronoco Bay Park. His disappearance poses a threat to his safety due to a cognitive impairment, according to police.

Tafere is described as Black, 5 foot 6 and 170 pounds with brown eyes and gray hair. He was last seen wearing a brown suit, brown pants, black hoodie, black shoes and blue surgical mask.
