Sexual Assault Victim Knew Her Attacker: Alexandria Police

Police have identified and plan to arrest a suspect accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her apartment.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Alexandria Police have identified the suspect believed to have sexually assaulted a 23-year-old woman in her apartment Saturday, Jan. 27.

Police say the victim knew the suspect that that it wasn't a random incident. There are warrants for his arrest, but police have not publicly released his identify. Updates will follow when an arrest is made.

The suspect broke into the victim's apartment in the 5800 block of Quantrell Avenue around 12:15 p.m. Saturday, detectives believe. Investigations show the woman was held against her will and sexually assaulted. The suspect fled afterward.

The victim had described the suspect as a Hispanic or Middle Eastern man between age 25 and 35, 5 foot 9, 170 pounds with dark brown hair and brown eyes. A surveillance image of the suspect has been released.
