Shooting Injures Bystander, Leads To Charges In Alexandria
Alexandria Police have made an arrest in a Saturday shooting with one injured in the Old Town West area.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — One person has been arrested in a shooting that injured a bystander in Alexandria Saturday.
The shooting happened around 8:21 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of North Fayette Street, which is in the Old Town West area. Police had responded to a report about gunshots. Police say one bystander, a 38-year-old woman, was shot in the lower extremity during the incident. The victim was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury and is expected to recover.
Police have arrested and charged Tykeece Simms, 21, of Alexandria, with malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and unlawful discharge of a firearm. Simms is being held without bond at the Alexandria Adult Detention Center.
