Shooting In Old Town Alexandria Leads To 1 Arrest

Police do not believe there are additional suspects responsible for Tuesday's shooting.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Alexandria Police have arrested and charged one person for a shooting in Old Town Tuesday afternoon.

Police responded to the 1500 block of Cameron Street after someone called about gunshots. Deangelo Griffin, 26, was charged with attempted malicious wounding and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Investigations concluded no other suspects are responsible. There were no reports of injuries.

The incident happened near Jefferson Houston School and Chance for Change Academy. The schools' secure the building status was lifted as of 4:18 p.m., according to the school district.

After school pick-ups for Jefferson Houston happened in a different location as police collected evidence. The east exits was not open, and students were being dismissed through the exits on West Street.
