Sidewalk Sale Returns To Alexandria For 12th Year In August
The annual Sidewalk Sale will be held over a weekend in August with free parking at several Old Town garages.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The annual Alexandria Summer Sidewalk Sale will return for a 12th year over the weekend of Aug. 14 and 15.
The sidewalk sale features over 70 Alexandria boutiques offering significant discounts on summer merchandise. Stores offer items ranging from fashion and jewelry to home decor, culinary goods and environmentally friendly products. New participants this year are Goldfinch, Harambee Books & Artworks, Kate & Lo (pop-up boutique), Lilly Pulitzer, Mason & Greens, Mint Collective and RocketFizz Alexandria.
While shopping, pop-up activations will happen along King Street in Old Town as well as Del Ray. The Yellow Door Concert Series Youth Ensemble will perform pop-up jazz music in the 1000 block of King Street on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Local singer-songwriter Dan Barry will perform with influences of rock, jazz, folk and soul on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the same location.

Venture down King Street to the unit block at the waterfront for a pop-up from The Art League. Handmade ceramic bowls and small prints will be available for sale, and ice cream bowl purchases include a certificate for a free ice cream from Kilwins at 212 King Street.
In Del Ray, participating businesses offer items ranging from children and maternity consignment and seasonal dog toys to bargain books and farmers market goods. Participating stores will follow a peach theme with peach décor, peach-themed specials at select nearby restaurants and more.

There will also be activations at the Del Ray Vintage & Flea Market, Salvation Army Carnival and Mt. Vernon Rec Center on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., as well as a pop-up market at Pat Miller Neighborhood Square on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Social media giveaways will lead into the Sidewalk Sale weekend. During the week of the event, the Old Town Business Association will give out eight $30 gift certificates to local restaurants encouraging shoppers to "Lunch and Shop" throughout the weekend. The Old Town Business Association and Old Town Boutique District will announce details of gift certificate giveaways at a later time.
While street parking is always free in Del Ray, the City of Alexandria is also providing free parking in four Old Town garages on Saturday and Sunday of the Sidewalk Sale. The locations are Courthouse Square Parking Garage, 111 S. Pitt Street; Market Square Parking Garage, 108 N. Fairfax Street; USP Parking Garage, 220 N. Union Street; and Thompson’s Alley Parking Garage, 10 Thompsons Alley.
