ALEXANDRIA, VA — Bob & Edith's Diner, a family-owned business based in Northern Virginia, has opened an Old Town Alexandria location. The new diner at 1743 King Street is close to the King Street Metro and replaces the closed Ernie's Original Crab House.

A grand opening and ribbon cutting was held Monday. This is the sixth location for the local chain. Others are located in Arlington's Columbia Pike, North Arlington, Crystal City, Springfield and Huntington.

Bob & Edith's Diner dates back to 1969 when husband and wife Robert (Bob) and Edith Bolton bought Gray's Donut Dinette in Arlington and changed the name to Bob & Edith's. Today, their son Greg Bolton owns Bob & Edith's Diner with his children Tammy Bolton and Chris Bolton, and they've expanded beyond the original two Arlington locations. The diner's 50th anniversary was celebrated in 2020.

"My dad became an integral part of the Arlington community when he opened our original location, and my family has continued that tradition as we've continued to expand the Bob & Edith's Diner brand," said owner Greg Bolton in a previous news release announcing the location.

The diner is open 24 hours a day, serving a menu of all-day breakfast, bottomless hot coffee, sandwiches, salads, other entrées, and desserts like freshly baked pies and milkshakes. Dine-in service and online ordering are available.
