Snow Storm: What's Open, Closed In Alexandria

Just a handful of services are open during the snow storm in Alexandria.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—As snow continues to fall throughout the day, many services are closed in Alexandria. Forecasters are now calling for 4 to 8 inches of snow as the region remains under a winter storm warning until 8 p.m.

City offices are closed, although emergency personnel are reporting as usual. City snow and ice teams are mobilized and are treating roads.

  • Trash and recycling collection: Wednesday's collection is moved to Thursday and Thursday's is moved to Friday

  • Metrorail: Trains are operating on a modified weekday schedule both above and below ground. Expect delays. See more information from WMATA.
  • Metrobus: Buses will be reduced by about 60 percent under the moderate snow plan. Some routes will not operate, and riders should plan for delays.
  • DASH Bus service: As of 7 a.m., buses will only operate on the DASH snow routes
