190 Nonprofits To Join Spring2Action Alexandria's Day Of Giving

Alexandrians will donate to their nonprofits of choice through Spring2Action, and nonprofits will compete for additional prizes.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Spring2Action, Alexandria's day of giving, is approaching as hosting nonprofit ACT for Alexandria hopes fundraising will again meet or surpass its goal.

Spring2Action will be held Wednesday, April 24 as the annual day of giving to support Alexandria nonprofits. The event is held by nonprofit ACT for Alexandria every year in April. Early giving started on April 10 ahead of the main 24-hour event on Wednesday.

Approximately 190 local nonprofits are participants that donors can contribute to. Nonprofits cover all kinds of causes, from sports organizations, education and youth programs to food pantries, a homeless shelter and pet rescues.

Along with donating directly to an organization, donors can support a specific fundraiser or visit a business that contributes a portion of proceeds to Spring2Action recipients.

Last year, Spring2Action surpassed its $2.5 million goal, raising over $2.8 million to 187 nonprofits through 7,700 donors provided over 12,000 donations.

Extra monetary prizes will be awarded to nonprofits leading in several fundraising categories. For the organizations receiving the most donors, prizes are awarded from first to fifth place based on the size of their operating budget — up to $500,000 for small, $500,000 to $1 million for medium, and over $1 million for large. Early giving prizes and randomly-drawn nonprofit prizes are a few of the other categories.
