Spring2ACTion on April 20!

Spring2ACTion is 24 hours of online giving to benefit nonprofit organizations serving Alexandria, VA on Wednesday, April 20.

On Wednesday, April 20, 2016, ACT for Alexandria and more than 140 nonprofit organizations dedicated to making a difference in Alexandria are enlisting the entire community to raise money for local causes during Spring2ACTion, a 24-hour online giving drive. Spring2ACTion, hosted by ACT for Alexandria, is one extraordinary day to support the organizations that provide critical services to tens of thousands of people throughout Alexandria. Last year, Spring2ACTion with the help of 9,431 individual donors raised $1,276,909 for 129 nonprofits in just one day. This year, Spring2ACTion celebrates its sixth year with the goal of engaging 10,000 donors to raise $1.5 million in support of local charities.

The participating nonprofits span a variety of causes-from arts and culture to education and youth services. Maury Elementary PTA, Alexandria Soccer Association, Empowered Women International, Arts on the Horizon, ALIVE!, The Child & Family Network Centers, Community Lodgings and Carpenter’s Shelter are just a few of the organizations that have raised money during Spring2ACTion in past years.

“On Wednesday, April 20, 2016, our entire community will come together for one day to raise funds to support more than 140 local nonprofits that heal the sick, educate children and adults, feed the hungry, protect our environment, enrich our lives and so much more. Spring2ACTion has tremendous potential to help our community,” says John Porter, President and CEO of ACT for Alexandria.
