Suspected Gang Activity Results In 4 Alexandria Arrests

Four people from Alexandria were arrested on charges relating to drug trafficking as part of a federal law enforcement raid.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Four individuals from Alexandria were among 28 arrested as suspected gang members in a DC area roundup Wednesday. The charges relate to their roles selling drugs or use of guns in suspected gang-related activity.

The FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and Explosives conducted the roundups as part of Operation Tin Panda, which began in the spring. The operation involved "jointly investigating area Blood gangs involved in violent crime and other criminal activity in Northern Virginia," according to a statement from the Department of Justice. Alexandria Police, the Fairfax County Police and Sheriff's departments and other law enforcement partners assisted in the roundups.

Before acting on search warrants Wednesday, the operation recovered 71 firearms and approximately 1,292 grams of cocaine base, 4,408 grams of cocaine, 23,838 grams of marijuana, 2,152 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 815 grams of heroin and 36,075 grams of THC. The Wednesday roundups resulted in the recovery of other firearms and drugs.

The arrested individuals from Alexandria and their charges are as follows:

  • Deion Wright, 25: Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime
  • Orean Anthony Hayden, 29: Use and Carry of a Firearm During and in Relation to a Drug Trafficking Crime
  • Bryan Matthews, 19: Use and Carry of a Firearm During and in Relation to a Drug Trafficking Crime
  • Ezana Demisse, 25: Use and Carry of a Firearm During and in Relation to Drug Trafficking
