Sweetgreen to Open Location in Alexandria: Report
Washington Business Journal reports that the fast-casual seasonal salad restaurant will open a location on King Street.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Sweetgreen, the fast-casual seasonal salad restaurant founded by three friends in Georgetown nine years ago, will open a location in Old Town, according to a report by Washington Business Journal.
The restaurant, according to the report, will be located at 823 King St., the site of the current Bittersweet Cafe. See the Sweetgreen menu here.

Founded in 2007, Sweetgreen describes itself as a destination for “fun, delicious food that’s both healthy for you and aligned with your values,” the company says. “We source local and organic ingredients from farmers we know and partners we trust, supporting our communities and creating meaningful relationships with those around us. We exist to create experiences where passion and purpose come together.”
Led by T. Rowe Price with participation from prior investor Revolution Growth, sweetgreen’s total venture funding is at $95 million, according to a report last summer by techcrunch.

Sweetgreen opened a new location Thursday in Arlington’s Crystal City neighborhood with a fundraiser for Freshfarm Markets. It’s other locations in Virginia include Reston, McLean, Ballston, Merrifield in the Mosaic District and at Tysons Galleria. According to the company Web site, there are currently 40 Sweetgreen locations nationwide.
