Tip for Recycling Holiday Lights

Local market offers holiday light recycling program.

I was very excited to see that MOM’s Organic Market, 3831 Mount Vernon Avenue, has a receptacle in their entrance lobby for broken or unwanted holiday lights. This is a seasonal recycling effort. Per a phone call to the Alexandria store, they will be conducting this recycling effort through the first week of January. However, I could not nail down specific dates so you might want to deposit them sooner rather than later.

They ask that you remove the lights from any wrapping or bags before placing them in the receptacle.

Per MOM’s Organic Market website, “Capitol Asset Recycling collects all lights, and then breaks them down through smelting or shredding to recover raw commodities.”
