ALEXANDRIA, VA — A Turkish coffee and dessert shop is seeking to open in the former location of Blüprint Chocolatiers in Old Town Alexandria.

Turkish Coffee Lady filed a change of ownership request with the city government for 1001 King Street. Blüprint Chocolatiers is listed as permanently closed.

The application describes Turkish Coffee Lady as a specialty coffee business "continuing a 500-year-old tradition of bridging cultures." The woman-led business aims to build a global community of coffee lovers focused on Turkish coffee while empowering women entrepreneurs.

The shop will sell Turkish coffee, tea, desserts and pastries as well as cultural gift items and coffee artwork. The concept of the business will be "Coffee.Culture.Arts" as described in the application. Food will be prepackaged and not prepared on site. Proposed hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Turkish Coffee Lady was founded by Gizem Salcigil White in 2017. She opened a brick-and-mortar location in 2017 but closed it in 2020 due to COVID-19. Products are currently available online.
