Two-Alarm Fire Displaces Dozen People At Alexandria Apartment
A fire on the 12th floor resulted in a building evacuation and 12 people being displaced.

A fire at an Alexandria apartment building went to two alarms and displaced 12 people Wednesday night, according to the fire department.
The fire broke out on the 12th floor of Carydale East Apartments on Duke Street shortly after 9 p.m. A report from the IAFF Local 2141 union indicated reports of people trapped. Firefighters quickly worked to put out the fire and search the building for residents.
The building was evacuated, and one person was evaluated by medics. The building had "moderate smoke conditions" and had to be ventilated, the fire department said.

The fire department reached out to Red Cross for assistance to displaced residents.
Preliminary investigations revealed the cause of the blaze to be a malfunctioning and overheated electrical chord.
