U.S. Senator Warner Announces COVID-19 Breakthrough Case
Sen. Mark Warner said he has mild symptoms after testing positive for COVID-19 and is working from home.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — U.S. Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) announced Tuesday he had tested positive for the coronavirus.
A statement from Warner's office called it a breakthrough case of COVID-19.
“Senator Warner has tested positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19," said Rachel Cohen, the communications director for Warner. "He is glad that he has been vaccinated and boosted, and at this time his symptoms are extremely mild."

Warner, who lives in Alexandria, plans to work from home, following isolation guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Office of the Attending Physician.
Virginia's daily COVID-19 case average is starting to trend down after reaching a peak on Jan. 13. The current seven-day daily case average is 11,891, according to Virginia Department of Health data. Hospitalizations also reached a peak in mid-January and are inching down, according to Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association data. Hospitalizations stand at 3,510, including 588 in the intensive care units and 361 on ventilators.
