Uber Eats Driver Robbed, Carjacked; Alexandria Man Sentenced
An Alexandria man was sentenced to prison for a robbery and carjacking a motorized scooter from a delivery driver.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A carjacked motorized scooter and robbery of an Uber Eats driver led to a prison sentence for an Alexandria man.
Daquan Skipper, 27, of Alexandria, was sentenced in DC federal court to eight years in prison for the carjacking of a scooter and robbery of the driver's cell phone. The incident happened July 29, 2023 outside of a Pizza Hut at 1501 Maryland Avenue NE in Washington, DC.
According to prosecutors, the delivery driver had just picked up an order when Skipper and two others approached. The victim was putting his cell phone on a holder attached to the scooter when the group surrounded him. Skipper threatened the driver, implying he had a gun in his waistband, and took the victim's phone and keys to the scooter.

While Skipper unsuccessfully tried to start the scooter, the group dragged the vehicle toward the Bladensburg Road NE intersection. The victim followed Skipper and flagged down police. Skipper dropped the scooter and fled, but police ultimately arrested him and recovered the victim's phone.
Skipper pleaded guilty to the carjacking and robbery charges in January. DC Superior Court Judge Jason Park ordered three years of supervised release in addition to the eight-year prison sentence.
