Virginia's 200 Best Places To Live For 2019 Ranked: New Report

VIRGINIA — According to Niche.com, if you want to live among the best places in Virginia, then you should consider moving to Arlington or Alexandria if you don't reside there already. Nine of the top 10 spots were reserved for Arlington communities, with Stone Ridge in Loudon County grabbing the other top spot.

For 2019, Niche.com data crunchers, say they have determined the Bluemont neighborhood in Arlington is the No. 1 best place to live in Virginia.

"Living in Bluemont offers residents an urban feel and most residents own their homes. In Bluemont there are a lot of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and parks. Many young professionals live in Bluemont and residents tend to be liberal. The public schools in Bluemont are highly rated," Niche.com says.

Niche.com says its "ranking provides a comprehensive assessment of the overall livability of an area. This grade takes into account several key factors of a location, including the quality of local schools, crime rates, housing trends, employment statistics, and access to amenities in an attempt to measure the overall quality of an area. Learn where our data comes from."

The top four criteria specifically are: cost of living, higher education rate, housing grade, and public schools grade.

Niche.com ranks more than 200 places in its new report and you'll notice when you read the rankings below that many Arlington, Alexandria, Richmond and Norfolk neighborhoods received their own grade.
