Visit Alexandria is making available free tickets to tour the French Tall Ship Hermione when it docks in Alexandria, June 10, 11 and 12. Members of the public wishing to tour Hermione may stop by the Burke & Herbert Bank Main Office at 100 South Fairfax St. in Alexandria to pick up free tickets. With a 162-year history in the community, Burke & Herbert Bank was named this year as the official banking partner of Visit Alexandria.
Hermione is an exact replica of the ship that brought the Marquis de Lafayette to George Washington with news of full French aid in 1780, helping turn the tide of the American Revolution.
There are 25 tickets available for the 3:30 p.m. tour each day, June 10, 11, and 12. Tickets are available at the branch May 18 to June 5 on a first-come, first-serve basis, with a maximum of two tickets per person. Branch hours are: Monday-Friday 9 a.m. -6 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. -1 p.m.
A limited number of tickets will also be available on the dock on June 10, 11 and 12.
