Watch Carolers Take Over Old Town Alexandria

Watch as visitors to the Alexandria waterfront get a special holiday treat from carolers.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—The Alexandria Harmonizers delighted Old Town Alexandria patrons with Christmas tunes Tuesday, Dec. 12 during their annual Carol Crawl. The caroling kicked off at Market Square around 8 p.m.

The award-winning a cappella group sang Christmas songs as they go from restaurant to restaurant along King Street near the waterfront. The group sang three songs at each restaurant, exiting to "We Wish You a Merry Christmas."

They started at Gadsby's Tavern.

Then they hit up Pop's Old Fashioned Ice Cream, Pizza Paradiso, Vola's Dockside Grill and so on.

The group has around 100 active members coming from as far as Richmond. Roughly half of them showed up for the Carol Crawl.

One of them is Steve Murane of Woodbridge, a 10-year member. He tells Patch the group tries to do plenty of things in Alexandria, including Christmas concerts and visits to retirement homes.

"It's a great way to get out there and sing songs and brighten up people's spirits," he said.

Alexandria Harmonizers will celebrate their 70th anniversary next summer and have won dozens of international awards. Find out more about the group at www.harmonizers.org.
