ALEXANDRIA, VA—Robinson Landing has taken significant steps toward opening, according to developer EYA, LLC. The mixed-use development is in the works on the waterfront near South Union, Duke, and Wolfe Streets.

Nearly half of the mixed-use development's townhomes are completed or already occupied by residents. Move-ins started last fall.

Robinson Landing's first of three condominium building is under above-ground construction. Above-ground construction on the remaining two buildings will start later this spring. There will be 70 condominiums and 26 townhomes residences once completed.

"The community is taking shape, and everyone in Alexandria is beginning to see how Robinson Landing is delivering on the City’s larger plan to beautify and enliven this previously undeveloped area of the waterfront," said EYA, LLC Vice President Evan Goldman.

City Council approved Robinson Landing's proposed dining concepts on March 16. The development will include an upscale restaurant, cafƩ, and pier dining run by Alexandria Restaurant Partners.

The upscale restaurant will be in a condominium building where Duke Street crosses The Strand along a new waterfront promenade. With 184 indoor and 83 outdoor seats, the restaurant will serve grilled seafood, steaks, signature vegetarian dishes and an extensive wine list.

The cafƩ will have 32 indoor and 32 outdoor seats. It will also be the prep kitchen for the pier seats and restrooms for outdoor guests and the public.

The pier restaurant will be a casual Mediterranean concept with 232 outdoor seats and a year-round operation in another condominium building. The menu will feature small and shared plates from Spain, Turkey and Greece and regional wines. Other areas of the pier will have floating docks set aside for boaters and space for the public and entertainment.

Construction of Robinson landing has led to some historic discoveries on the waterfront. In 2018, three historic ships were discovered at the Robinson Landing site. EYA, LLC contracted archaeologists to excavate the three ships with support from city archaeologists. All three ships are believed to be from the 1700s.

The ship discoveries did not delay the timeline for Robinson Landing to be completed. The developer says Robinson Landing is set to be finished by mid 2020.
