Wegmans Sets May Opening For New Alexandria Grocery Store
Wegmans is preparing to open its Alexandria store in the Carlyle area while hiring of full-time and part-time employees continues.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The newest Wegmans store in Northern Virginia will open in May at Alexandria's Carlyle Crossing development. Wegmans announced the opening date for the store at 150 Stovall Street will be Wednesday, May 11 at 9 a.m.
The new 81,300-square-foot Wegmans store will be part of the Carlyle Crossing development, which features three luxury apartment communities and retail space. Two of the apartment communities — Dylan and Reese — are now leasing. The Easton is expected to be leasing in early 2022. The development is close to employers like the National Science Foundation and across the street from the Eisenhower Avenue Metro station.
The store continues to hire for remaining part-time and select full-time positions. The store will have 450 positions in various departments, including sushi, pizza, prepared foods, deli and charcuterie, cheese, seafood, grocery stockers, and cashiers.

"Hiring and training are well underway, and we’re looking for more enthusiastic candidates to round out our team before opening day," said Store Manager Mike Anthony. “We’re thrilled to begin the countdown to May 11 when we can welcome the Alexandria community through our doors."
One of the Wegmans employees assisting with training at the Alexandria store is Alexis Walters, who started as a part-time cashier and is now a full-time employee advocate. Walters worked at a school district before accepting a job at the Frederick, Maryland Wegmans. After completing the Wegmans Human Resources Management Trainee program, Walters became an employee advocate at several stores in the Virginia division. She is overseeing staffing and training needs to prepare employees for opening day in Alexandria.
