What's Open, Closed On Presidents Day 2018 In Alexandria
A handful of services in Alexandria will take a long weekend to celebrate Presidents Day.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—As Americans commemorate Washington and Lincoln's birthdays for Presidents Day, a handful of services will be closed for the federal holiday on Monday, Feb. 19.
City of Alexandria offices are closed, in addition to Alexandria City Public Schools. Services like public transportation and museums will operate, although on different schedules.

City Offices: Closed Monday, Feb. 19

Schools and Administrative Offices: Closed Monday, Feb. 19
State Offices: The Alexandria Circuit Court Clerk's Office, the Alexandria Circuit Court, the Alexandria General District Court and the Alexandria Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court (520 King St.) will close on Feb. 19. The Department of Motor Vehicles office at 2681 Mill Rd. will be closed Friday, Jan. 12 and Monday, Jan. 15.
Animal Shelter: Open Monday, Feb. 19 from 11 a.m. through 5 p.m., with animal visitation beginning at noon.
DASH and King Street Trolley: DASH will operate on a Saturday schedule on Monday, Feb. 19. The King Street Trolley will operate on a regular Monday schedule from 10:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Visit www.dashbus.com for schedules.
Emergency hotlines: All emergency hotlines operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including the child protective services hotline at 703-746-5800; the domestic violence hotline at 703-746-4911; the emergency services for mental health or substance abuse crisis hotline at 703-746-3401; the adult protective services hotline at 703-746-5778; and the sexual assault hotline at 703-683-7273.
Health Facilities: The Alexandria Health Department (4480 King St.), Flora Krause Casey Health Center (1200 N. Howard St.) and Teen Wellness Center at T.C. Williams High School (3330 King St.) will be closed on Monday, Feb. 19.
Historic sites: On Feb. 19, admission is free at these historic Alexandria sites: Friendship Firehouse Museum, Gadsby's Tavern Museum, Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum and The Lyceum: Alexandria's History Museum. Libraries: Closed Monday, Feb. 19
Metrorail: Metrorail will open 5 a.m. and close at 11:30 p.m., operating on a Saturday schedule. No track work is scheduled. Parking is free.
Metrobus: Buses will operate on a Saturday supplemental schedule. Some trips after midnight will not operate. See more information at www.wmata.com.
Parking: Police will suspect parking enforcement on Feb. 19 at metered spaces, residential permit parking districts and other areas with posted parking time limits. It does not apply to permit parking in any location normally prohibited (parking zones, loading zones, or spaces for persons with disabilities). Temporary no-parking signs will be enforced.
Recreation and Arts Centers: Chinquapin Park Recreation Center and Aquatics Facility (3210 King St.) will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Charles Houston Recreation Center (901 Wythe St.) will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the Torpedo Factory Art Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. All other recreation and arts centers will be closed on Monday, Feb. 19.
Trash Pickup: Trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day the week of Feb. 19. Collections will not happen Feb. 19. The Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collections Drop-off Center (3225 Colvin St.) will be closed on Monday, Feb. 19.
