Winter Shelters Open For Alexandria Residents In Need
If you see a person in need as the wind chill advisory takes effect, the winter shelter in Alexandria is open.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—The warming shelter is open in the City of Alexandria as frigid temperatures and gusty winds linger from the bomb cyclone passing through. Thanks to volunteers, faith based groups and city government, hundreds receive shelter during the winter season.
Within the City of Alexandria, the warming shelter is at Carpenter's Shelter, 930 North Henry Street. The shelter is open to walk-ins from 7 p.m.-7 a.m. daily for men, women and families with children through March 31, 2018 (and April weather permitting). Contact the shelter at 703-548-7500 or visit its website for more information.
According to the National Weather Service, wind chills could range from 5 degrees to -10 degrees as the wind chill advisory is in effect through noon Friday. Residents that see people needing shelter should call Alexandria Police's non-emergency number at 703-838-4444.
