Alexandria Woman Dies After Shooting: Police
Police have arrested a person for the fatal shooting of an Alexandria woman.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Police have charged a man for shooting and killing an Alexandria woman Friday morning.
Around 9:46 a.m., police responded to the 5500 block of Holmes Run Parkway. Officers found the victim with an upper body injury. The woman was taken to the hospital, where she died of her injuries.
The victim was identified as Diamond Moore, 20, of Alexandria.

William Thomas Layton, 32, of Largo, Md., was charged with murder, possession of a firearm by a violent felon, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is being held without bond in the Alexandria Detention Center.
It is unclear if the unknown suspect and victim knew each other. Detectives do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
