29 Herndon-Reston Employers Honored For Bike To Work Day Challenge

RESTON, VA — Hunter Mill District Supervisor Walter Alcorn recently honored 29 companies from Reston and Herndon as 2023 Bike to Work Day Employer Challenge Winners.

Dulles Area Transportation Association's July 28 ceremony recognized medium and large companies in the area that had five or more employees who participated in the 2023 Bike to Work.

"The new Silver Line stations mean more employees than ever have the option of biking their first and last mile to a bus or train stop," Alcorn said. "Employers who encourage a healthy and green commute, and employees who enjoy our scenic trails on the way to work all contribute to Fairfax County’s sustainability efforts and quality of life.”

Jessica Mason, who has been an employee of Fibertek, a Herndon-based laser systems designer, has participated in BTWD for the past 10 years.

"As our company grows, more and more of our employees are taking part in BTWD and posting those photo," she said. "Fibertek as a community is doing it and growing BTWD at the company, promoting a healthy lifestyle.”

This year's Bike to Work Day Employer Challenge was a collaboration between the Hunter Mill District Office, Commuter Connections, Bike to Work Day 2023, DATA, Fairfax County Department of Transportation, and the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation. A DRPT grant funded DATA’s employer outreach work.
