7000 Series Metro Rail Cars Coming To Reston

RESTON, VA — Metro's Silver Line is finally getting the new 7000 series rail cars, according to a report.

NBC Washington reports that starting June 25, two new trains will be assigned to the Silver Line on weekdays to increase capacity in the area.

The Silver Line had been saddled with older cars due to its overall lower ridership since the stations opened in July 2014.

"Every business day we're replacing one of our outdated 4000 Series cars with a new, state-of-the-art 7000 Series car," WMATA says on its website. "So next time you ride Metro, look around for the new 7000 Series car. They look better, they ride better, they sound better, more importantly, they work better."
