VA Gov. Spanberger Signs 1,125 Bills, Vetoes Cannabis, ICE Measures

As of Friday, Gov. Abigail Spanberger (D) has signed or approved 1,125 of the 1,156 bills passed by the Virginia General Assembly during the 2026 legislative session. The enacted legislation included an expansion of workers compensation and a ban on assault weapons.

The governor also vetoed 31 bills, including one that would've advanced retail cannabis sales in Virginia and another that sought to restrict arrests by ICE agents.

The following are some of the actions Gov. Spanberger has taken on legislation over the last week or so.
