Armed Men Terrorize Reston Neighborhood: Police

Two men armed with a gun robbed Reston residents three times early Tuesday morning, police say.

RESTON, VA — Police are looking for two men who committed three armed robberies at Reston Town Center and a nearby neighborhood.

While police have not confirmed that all three robberies were by the same duo, they all happened close to each other, involved two armed men, and happened within a short time of each other.

The first incident happened at 12:23 a.m. on May 30 in the 1900 block of Democracy Drive at Reston Town Center, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.

"A man and woman were sitting in a car when they were approached by two men," the report states. "One suspect displayed a gun and demanded money. The victims handed over their cell phones and other personal belongings and the suspects fled."

Just 12 minutes later, a man was talking on his cell phone in the 2200 block of Colts Neck Road -- a neighborhood just down the road from Reston Town Center -- when he was approached by two men.

"One suspect assaulted him; the other displayed a knife," the report states. "The suspects took the victim’s wallet and cell phone."

At 1:50 a.m., a man sitting his car at the intersection of Glade Drive and Pinecrest Road -- not far from the Colts Neck Road location -- was approached by two men.

"One displayed a gun and demanded money," the report states. "The victim handed over his wallet and cell phone and the suspects ran."

No one was injured in any of the altercations. Police are looking into the possibility that the robberies are all related.

"The suspects were both described as black, with their faces covered and wearing gloves," police say. "One suspect was wearing a red, hooded sweatshirt and the other was wearing a gray sweatshirt."
