Armed Robberies Surge In Reston Area
Multiple gas stations have been hit in just the last few weeks.

RESTON, VA -- Armed robbers have struck multiple gas stations in the Reston area in recent weeks, and local citizens have been targeted as well in an alarming recent uptick in robberies.
In the latest incident, two gas stations in Reston and Herndon were robbed on Monday by a man who displayed a handgun, one on Leesburg Pike and the other at the North Point Village Center.
Late last month, police released video (screenshot posted above) of a masked man who pulled a gun on a clerk at a gas station on North Shore Drive. A search of the area proved fruitless.

Police arrested a Herndon man last week in connection with the armed robbery of a CVS store in Reston Town Center on Feb. 4.
And on Feb. 13, a man entered the Sunoco on South Lakes Drive, showed a weapon, and fled after taking cash. That Sunoco station was robbed twice in 2016, according to police.

Citizens have also been targeted for robberies as well. Police arrested two teens after a 14-year-old boy was assaulted and robbed in Great Falls on Jan. 26, police say. And two suspects robbed a man as he got off the bus on Glade Drive in Reston on Jan. 29.
