Authorities Release Cause Of Death For Man Found In Lake Audubon
Kevin Ruby of Falls Church was discovered in the lake the day after failing to report at the end of a swim race.

RESTON, VA -- Police have confirmed that the man who was found in Lake Audubon in late May after he competed in a swim race had died of accidental drowning.
Kevin Ruby, 45, of Falls Church was competing in a swim race at Lake Audubon, and authorities responded to the lake when a concerned family member contacted them after not hearing from Ruby in more than an hour, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.
Officers determined Ruby never reported in at the conclusion at the race, and his body was found the next day.

Although foul play was not suspected, the medical examiner conducted an autopsy to determine the cause of death. On Friday, the medial examiner confirmed that the cause was drowning, with the contributing cause of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
