Easter 2018 Grocery Hours In VA: Wegmans, Giant, Harris Teeter

Whether you're hosting a small Easter dinner or feeding a crowd of family and friends, it seems like some key ingredient is missing that requires a quick run to the grocery store. Everyone has a last-minute purchase — paprika for the deviled eggs or chocolate bunnies for the kids — that requires one last dash to the store.

Here is a list of Virginia grocery stores that will be open on Easter Sunday, along with their hours. However, it is always a good idea to call ahead and make sure the store has the item you're looking for in stock.

Nearly every food store in the region — Giant, Wegmans, Whole Foods and Harris Teeter among others — is open Easter Sunday, April 1, although hours may be adjusted for the holiday. A few chains, including one major discount retailer, are closed for the holiday. Here is the status for Virginia and DC grocery chains, taken from their websites and emails to Patch. Some stores may vary.

• Wegmans Food Markets: Stores will be open their normal business hours: 6 a.m. to midnight.
• Food Lion: All stores will be open normal business hours.
• Safeway: Open normal hours, most locations open 5 a.m. to midnight, some open 24 hours a day
• Giant Foods: Stores will be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
• Harris Teeter: Open normal hours, most stores open 24 hours.
• Trader Joes: Stores will close at 5 p.m. on Easter.
• Whole Foods: Stores will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Easter.
• ShopRite Supermarkets: Maryland stores will be open normal hours on Easter. Many ShopRite stores are independently owned and operated, so holiday hours will vary. ShopRite customers should check their local store's Facebook page or call the store to check holiday hours.
• Fresh Market: Stores are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
• MOMs My Organic Market: Open 9 am-8 pm on Sunday.
• ALDI: All stores are closed for Easter Sunday.
• Costco: All stores are closed on Easter.
• Sam's Club: Stores will be closed on Easter.
• Walmart: Stores will be open regular hours.
• Target: Store are closed on Easter Sunday.
