Graceful Spaces is a volunteer organization that supports families who are in Reston Interfaith’s Transitional Housing Program by repurposing and redistributing all manner of household items. Graceful Spaces was initiated three years ago by Anne Strange and Karen Hale. Jean Boston joined the team in December of 2009. Anne Strange is a trained commercial interior designer and facility manager; Karen Hale is an artist and organizing expert; Jean Boston is a psychologist and Feng Shui practitioner. Since its inception in 2008, Graceful Spaces has worked with 50 families, including 115 children for a total of 2,200 volunteer hours.
In 2009 Graceful Spaces received the Virginia Peters Friends of Non-Profit Award from the Housing Association of Non-Profit Developers. Graceful Spaces also received the 2010 Sustainability Award from the Reston Citizens Association.
