Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Endorses Creation of Commission to Review Police Policies

On Tuesday, the Board endorsed Chairman Sharon Bulova's creation of the Ad Hoc Police Commission.

Today, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors endorsed Chairman Sharon Bulova’s creation of the Ad Hoc Police Commission, according to a news release from her office.

“This Commission will recommend changes, consistent with Virginia law, that would help Fairfax County achieve its goal of maintaining a safe community, ensuring a culture of public trust and making sure our policies provide for the fair and timely resolution of Police-involved incidents,” said Chairman Bulova.

The Board approved Supervisor Cook’s amendment that a review of the level of Crisis Intervention Training within the Police Department be added to the commission’s scope of work.

Chairman Bulova also released an initial list of commissioners. The commission will utilize a format that will include further citizen involvement through subcommittees and presentations.
