Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Save 6 People From Houston Flooding
Local rescue workers are down in Houston to assist in the rescue and relief effort after Hurricane Harvey's devastation.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Some local rescue workers are being heroes 1,500 miles away from Fairfax County in the Houston area, rescuing six people and two pets from areas flooded by Hurricane Harvey in recent days.
In a video update posted Thursday, Fairfax County Assistant Fire Chief Chuck Ryan said that rescue crews had just completed a full day's work, "assisting multiple residents out of flooded areas in Kingwood, Texas." Kingwood is located northeast of downtown Houston.
Rescue workers helped remove residents from their homes, as well as assisted owners in finding pets, medications, and other essential belongings.

The situation is improving in the Houston area, with water receding enough for crews to do a ground search checking on residences, Ryan said.
"There's no injuries to crew members whatsoever," he added. "They are very excited to be at work and doing good things for citizens and visitors of the Houston area in the wake of Hurricane Harvey."
