Fairfax County Police Make Arrest in Reston Hit and Run

Police charge Herndon man with felony hit and run; woman was hit by a car while she was crossing road with her groceries in November.

Fairfax County Police arrested a Herndon man this morning charging him with felony hit and run for an incident that sent a mother to the hospital in November in Reston.

The incident took place Nov. 16, around 6:30 p.m. That’s when police responded to a pedestrian who was struck while crossing Reston Parkway, from east to west near Spectrum Center, according to police.

The 37-year old woman was struck by a vehicle, thrown about 80 feet and landed on the side of the road, police said. She was transported to Reston Hospital. Her 16-year-old daughter who was with her was not injured.

Initially, the patient was non-life threatening but was later downgraded to critical condition, according to police. No vehicle stopped; it was unknown who was at fault.

With few leads, officers and accident reconstruction unit detectives, began to investigate the hit and run. Officers identified a probable suspect some time later. They tracked him to his place of employment and seized his car as evidence, according to police.

After a series of interviews and tracking down leads over months, the detective obtained an arrest warrant for Mr. Enda G. Browne, 32 of Herndon on Monday. He was arrested this morning, Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015 and charged with felony hit and run.
