Fatal Hit And Run In Reston: Driver Of Striking Car Sought

Fairfax County Police are looking for the driver involved in a fatal hit and run Wednesday night on Fairfax County Parkway in Reston.

RESTON, VA — Fairfax County Police are searching for the driver of a car involved in a fatal hit and run on Fairfax County Parkway Wednesday night in Reston, according to a post on the department's official Twitter account.

One of the drivers involved in the crash was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, but they died from their injuries.

The driver of the striking car fled the scene on foot, according to police. Police described the driver as a heavyset man with long hair, who was wearing a dark shirt. Anyone with information about the driver's location is asked to call 911.

Detectives from FCPD's Crash Reconstruction Unit responded the to the scene of the crash, which occurred on the parkway near Walnut Branch Road. Southbound Fairfax County Parkway was closed to traffic.
