Fountain Drive In Reston Completely Shut Down After Huge Water Main Break

The road reportedly will be shut down the whole day as crews make repairs.

RESTON, VA — Fountain Drive has been completely shut down for the entire day Thursday after a water main exploded in the middle of the road early in the morning, causing a spectacular fountain of water.

Fairfax County Police tweeted a photo of the break shortly before 6 a.m., noting that Fountain Drive between Bowman Towne Road and Baron Cameron Drive had been shut down due to the incident.

RestonNow reported that the road would be shut down for the rest of the day.

Fairfax Water lists the location of the break as 1763 Fountain Drive. The current status of the project is "Awaiting Miss Utility" as of Thursday morning at 10 a.m., and there are currently no customers without water service as a result of the break.

At least one person found the situation amusing.
