Hillary Clinton's First Stop in Virginia: June 26 at GMU's Patriot Center

Democratic Party of Virginia to host presidential candidate.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will make her first foray into the Commonwealth June 26 in Northern Virginia, according to an invite sent out by the state party and posted to the Democratic Party of Virginia’s Facebook page.

Clinton will appear at George Mason University in Fairfax at an event for the Democratic Party of Virginia. Clinton’s appearance will take place Friday, June 26 at 5 p.m. at GMU’s Patriot Center.

The Richmond-Times Dispatch reported earlier this month that the party’s Jefferson-Jackson dinner, which is usually held in Richmond, is being moved to Northern Virginia this year.

“Details still are being finalized, but the event, traditionally held in Richmond, is expected to take place at George Mason University in Northern Virginia — a Democratic vote- and cash-rich region of this crucial presidential swing state,” the newspaper reported.

Tickets to the event are $30 or $125. For $30, “seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis” with food and beverages for sale. “Preferred seating” and the cost for food and beverages are included for the $125 price.

The Virginia appearance will be coming about two weeks after Clinton holds her first big rally of her campaign, on Saturday, June 13. The campaign has not yet disclosed the location of the rally. “Get excited: Hillary will be making her official campaign announcement speech at the first big event of her campaign on June 13th,” her campaign announced earlier this month.

Some might speculate that the rally will take place in Illinois. Clinton is a native of Park Ridge, Ill., a Chicago suburb.

Wherever the June 13 event is held, Politico reports that Bill Clinton and the couple’s daughter Chelsea Clinton will be in attendance. No word yet on whether granddaughter Charlotte will attend.
