Huge Company Moving Out Of Reston Town Center

Appian will be taking more than 1,000 employees to Tysons Corner.

A large company that will soon have more than 1,000 employees is closing up shop at Reston Town Center and moving next door to Tysons Corner.

Appian Corporation, a Reston-based business process management platform company currently located at 11955 Democracy Drive, will move its headquarters to Tysons and add 600 new jobs, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam announced Tuesday. The company is investing $28.4 million to expand its operations with the move to Tysons.

Founded in 1999, the company is an industry leader in creating business process management software, allowing companies to quickly creative effective applications on its platform. The company will retain 600 jobs and add 600 jobs in the move from Reston Town Center to Tysons Corner. The new headquarters will be located at Valo Park, a 785,000 square-foot multi-tenant complex at 7950 Jones Branch Drive.

"Appian is proud to be based in Northern Virginia,” Appian CEO Matt Calkins said in a statement. "In our journey from start-up to IPO, we’ve found everything we needed in the region. We look forward to many years in Tysons Corner."

Fairfax County competed against Atlanta and Raleigh, North Carolina to keep Appian in the area. Northam approved a $4-million grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund to help the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority secure the project.
