Huge Delay for Founding Farmers at Reston Station: Report

The new restaurant is reportedly struggling with the build-out of the new location.

RESTON, VA — The grand opening of a Founding Farmers restaurant at Reston Station has hit a major snag, and now won't be opening until the summer of 2017, according to a report.

The hugely popular D.C. restaurant was supposed to open a location at Reston Station as soon as late 2016 and more likely early 2017. But the Washington Business Journal is reporting that it is now expected to open in August 2017, citing word from developer Comstock, which is the owner of the 450-unit BLVD apartment building that opened at Reston Station earlier this year.

Founding Farmers will be a large, multilevel restaurant covering 10,000 square feet. Apparently, engineering complexities related to the mezzanine are causing delays, and it is taking longer than expected to get the proper permits, according to the report.
