Authorities have since fixed it, and no residents were harmed.

RESTON, VA — A major gas leak in Reston in a neighborhood near the U.S. Geological Survey caused a road in the area to be temporarily shut down as workers dealt with the issue.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue was called to the intersection of Glade Drive and Marginella Drive due to a report of a natural gas leak, causing Glade Drive to be shut down in both directions.

Washington Gas crews arrived shortly after and mitigated the problem in about an hour. All residents were reported safe, and the road was re-opened.
