Local Reston Company Brings Holiday Cheer to the Community

Avizia employees spent December spreading holiday cheer and giving back to local nonprofits Embry Rucker Community Shelter and Hopecam.

December is a time of year when many people and businesses are looking to see how they can help those who need it most. This year more than ever, the staff at Avizia felt it was important to dedicate our time and resources to spreading holiday cheer by pitching in and working to improve our community. On December 11, we merrily transformed into Santa’s little helpers and spent the day giving back to local Reston nonprofits Embry Rucker Community Shelter and Hopecam.

Embry Rucker Community Shelter

At the Embry Rucker Community Shelter, Avizia team members channeled their inner Top Chef skills cooking and serving lunch for those in need. Since this residential shelter offers a warm meal to anyone who needs one, and offers a place to stay for our areas homeless year round, we knew it was important to roll up our sleeves and get involved. If you and your family are looking for a great way to help those in need this holiday season, you can visit the Embry Rucker Community Shelter volunteer website or drop of essential donations at the shelter. Hopecam

Across town, another team of Avizia employees spent the day at Hopecam, an important local organization working to provide webcams, tablets and internet to kids battling cancer and other life threatening illnesses. Putting our tech expertise to good use we installed technology on tablets and laptops for children in local hospitals so, despite their illness, these kids can stay in touch with their friends and classmates over the holiday. The voice and face of a loved one can mean so much – to volunteer or make a donation to Hopecam visit http://bit.ly/1Pkconm.

There’s always a way to lend a helping hand, and moving into 2016 we should all make it a resolution to give back to our community. Whether through Embry Rucker Community Shelter, Hopecam, or another area nonprofit, there’s no shortage of opportunities to support those who need it most. Get involved, spread some cheer, and have a happy Holiday and wonderful New Year!
