Man Writes Song About Reston Metro Station
The Alexandria man wrote his ode to Wiehle-Reston East as part of his journey to write songs devoted to all 91 Metro stations.
RESTON, VA — Who hasn't been inspired after walking into the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station? Alexandria resident Jason Mendelson sure was, and he wrote a song about it -- along with songs devoted to the other 90 stations in the Metro system.
Mendelson, who was recently interviewed by the Washington Post, has released his albums online with songs dedicated to individual Metro stations. Many of the songs make only a passing reference to the Metro station they're named after, but his song about the Wiehle-Reston East station is a bit more localized.
"Before the distillery it’s clear / Wiehle was here," the lyrics go. "Man’s first step and it began / one small step into Lake Anne / Lord Fairfax once owned this land / silver lines drawn in the sand."

There's even a shout-out to Robert Simon: "Conceived as planned community / brought to life by Robert E. /
had recently sold Carnegie / highest conductivity."
Mendelson told the Post he's spent six and a half years writing songs about each Metro station, ultimately composing eight albums and 91 tracks.
