Monitoring Firm Snatches Up Reston Company
Tysons-based Alarm.com has announced the purchase of ObjectVideo on Sunrise Valley Drive.

RESTON, VA — Reston's ObjectVideo Inc., which develops video analytics software for automated security surveillance systems, has just been purchased by Alarm.com in Tysons Corner.
Alarm.com, which provides cloud services for home automation and monitoring services, will rename the company ObjectVideo Labs, according to a statement.
Alarm.com hopes the acquisition of the company will boost their research and development of video services and video analytics applications.

ObjectVideo was founded in 1998 by scientists and program managers from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
“I am excited for the opportunities ahead for the ObjectVideo Labs research and engineering team,” Raul Fernandez, President of ObjectVideo Inc., said in the statement. “Incorporating their pioneering work into the sophistication and scale of the Alarm.com platform will yield exciting opportunities for innovative new features and applications, and can drive Alarm.com into a leadership position in the emerging fields of video analytics and computer vision.”
