Nabra Hassanen's Accused Killer Attacked Another Woman: Report

The Reston teen was slain just a week after her accused killer allegedly attacked and sexually assaulted another woman, a new report claims.

RESTON, VA — The murder of Reston teen Nabra Hassanen earlier this month led to the arrest of El Salvadarion immigrant Darwin Martinez Torres, and an alarming new report has emerged suggesting that he may have been a member of the MS-13 street gang and assaulted a woman not long before Hassanen's death.

Martinez Torres is accused of beating Hassanen to death with a baseball bat in Herndon and then dumping her body in a pond in nearby Sterling earlier this month. According to a Washington Post report, he also punched, choked, and sexually assaulted a woman a week before his arrest for Hassanen's death.

Loudoun County Child Protective Services got involved in the previous incident because it happened in front of a young child, and the agency filed a report with the county sheriff, the report states. However, the woman declined to pursue charges, and she refused help from a woman's shelter. She even reportedly remained in the hospital because she was afraid of the man.

Hassanen's death sparked nationwide outrage, because she was a Muslim teen who was walking with friends near her mosque when she was attacked, leading to speculation of a hate crime. However, Fairfax County Police say that they believe Hassanen was slain in an incident of extreme road rage on the part of Martinez Torres, and not because she was Muslim.
