National Weather Service: Northern Virginia Could See One-Two Punch This Weekend
Weather service meteorologists looking at two systems moving into area to see how much precipitation we're getting.

The National Weather Service is keeping a close eye on two storm systems that could deliver a mix of snow and sleet to Northern Virginia Friday night into Saturday as well as later on Sunday into Monday, according to NWS meteorologist Dan Hoffmann, in the Sterling office.
(Get ready parents to keep an eye on the weather for a possible disruption to the schedule on Monday.)
The first storm system, on Friday night, will likely hit the area after rush hour Friday night, Hoffmann said, delivering a mix of snow and sleet, likely changing over to rain by midday Saturday.

For now though, the forecast calls for the heaviest precipitation for the first system to hit the area during the overnight hours Friday night, he noted.
With temperatures in the “warm” mid-30s Saturday, Hoffmann said he doesn’t expect a lot of the snowy mix to stick. “It’ll be more like a slushy coating,” he said. But if conditions change, the area could see significant snow, he said (so...Patch will be looking at the latest forecast again on Friday).

Sunday, Hoffmann said Northern Virginia will likely see some problems due to temperatures being colder.
