Northam Crushes Perriello In Reston District
Gillespie also edged out Stewart in the Republican primary in the Hunter Mill District.
RESTON, VA — The results are in, and it appears that Reston residents heavily favored Ralph Northam over Tom Perriello in the Democratic gubernatorial primary on Tuesday.
With all precincts reporting, Northam -- who ultimately won the nomination -- scored 7,670 votes in the Hunter Mill District, while Perriello received only 4,794 votes. That's a margin of about 62 percent to 38 percent in the district, which is mostly made up of Reston but also includes Vienna.
Reston residents also cast votes in the Republican primary, although in far fewer numbers. Ed Gillespie, the ultimate winner of the Republican nomination, edged out Corey Stewart 2,516-1,638 in the Hunter Mill District. Frank Wagner received 530 votes.
