Pedestrian Struck, Killed In Reston: Police
The driver braked and swerved, but was unable to avoid the pedestrian, police say.

RESTON, VA -- A pedestrian has been struck and killed by a car in Reston, the second such incident in a matter of weeks, police say.
Police responded to the intersection of Baron Cameron Avenue and Fountain Drive shortly after 9 p.m. on Wednesday night to a report of a pedestrian who had been hit, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.
"Detectives determined the pedestrian was crossing Baron Cameron Avenue mid-block, prior to Fountain Drive," the report states. "The Camry was in the right lane when the driver braked and tried to swerve but was unable to avoid hitting the pedestrian. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital and died as a result of his injuries."

Police say the victim was a 63-year-old man from Reston.
The driver remained on the scene, called for help, and has been cooperative in the investigation, the report states.

"Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors for the driver, however detectives are still working to determine if alcohol was a factor for the pedestrian," the report states. "The name of the deceased is being withheld until family is notified."
Last month, a woman was struck and killed near Reston Town Center while crossing the street at Reston Parkway and Bluemont Way.
