Police: Two at Large in Reston Home Invasion, Third Suspect Dead

A fourth suspect was also shot. Fairfax County Police searching for two men in Sunday afternoon crime.

Two male suspects are at large in the South Lakes area after a home invasion in the 11600 block of Stoneview Square, according to Fairfax County Police.

A third suspect is dead, another was shot and there is a fifth suspect in custody, according to the Fairfax Police Twitter account. The homeowner was not hurt.

Police have identified the deceased as a 24-year-old Herndon/Reston area man. Next of kin have not been contacted, according to police.

Initial reports indicated that five men entered an apartment, engaged in some sort of disagreement and one was shot, another was wounded, and others fled the scene, police said in a news release sent out at 8:51 p.m. Police say there were at least two men at home in the apartment; neither were injured. Subsequent investigation revealed that the men were known to each other and that the incident was not characterized as “random.” Detectives are still investigating motives for the incident.

Initially, police believed that two men fled the scene; police are still looking for suspects and information related to the crime, however do not believe there is any broader public safety threat to the community related to this case. Weapons believed to be involved in the crime were recovered on scene, according to police.

Police described two suspects at large as two black males between ages 19 and 25. One is wearing a red, white and blue hat. The other man had a “medium afro,” according to police.
